STOP WHAT YOU ARE DOING RIGHT NOW AND READ THIS: See this? These are the ABUSIVE, COLOURIST messages sent to a young salmon nine female. Over the course of months. And you know what happened?
That salmon nine female dyed.
She’s now forest green.
Because she couldn’t be accepted in society for who she really is, when there’s people like THIS around. Words hurt more than you know, and for this salmon nine, it is too late. Spread the word about colour discrimination: reblog this, or you’re heartless and disrespecting the now ruined life of that poor child at the hands of awful people like ‘Somethingexcellent’.

^^^^^what s/he said^^^^^
That’s pretty true, actually.
Yesssss.
This.
And can I add, fandoms have a horrible habit of calling all female CANON characters Mary Sues? And that pisses me off, because usually those are well-developed, interesting characters, but because they’re female and get in the way of the hot guys they’re called Mary Sues.
stfu from the Mary Sue wagon. Can we just have well-written characters and badly-written characters and leave it at that?
^^This, so much. The word has lost so much meaning because of the Fan Dumb calling 99.9% of canon male and female characters Mary Sues solely because they hate the character (“OMG, she/he’s a Mary Sue I H8 him/her!!”) and the characters are in the way of their “OMG TWU WUB” ship of their choice. I’ve seen that paricularly in female characters (not surprisingly). Dressing and acting feminine? Call them a Sue! Having a romantic relationship? Call them a Sue! Not a fighter? Call them a Sue! I…just wish that fandom just stop using the Mary Sue card on canon characters they hate, male or female, for that matter.
/rant over
We use Mary Sue in the definition of a character that blatantly rides roughshod over Canon. Dubiously-written original characters may beep the radar, but are not considered Sues until they’ve directly infracted Canon.
THERE ARE SUCH THINGS AS GOOD ORIGINAL CHARACTERS! DO NOT TAR EVERYONE WITH THE SAME BRUSH!
^^ everything up there. I thought the original definition of a Sue/Stu was that it was a complete self-insert, god-form character that always wins no matter what even if the reasoning is way off the charts? Well, they are badly written characters and there are canon characters like that too.
I do hate how everyone resorts to using those terms though; if you don’t like the artist/writer/etc then stop stalking them all over the internet labeling everything they do a sue. You don’t have to like everyone, nobody expects you to but don’t be a huge dick about it. A back button was invented you know…
